XFL Draft: Most interesting players in the XFL draft pool
The XFL Draft is this week. Here are the players in the draft pool who you should know about.
On Tuesday, the XFL Draft will begin. All eight teams will fill out their 71-man roster during the two-day XFL Draft, which has a unique set of rules. Before the actual draft, all eight teams will be assigned one quarterback. After that, the eight teams will draft in a five-phased draft.
In the first phase, teams will draft 10 rounds of skill position players. After that, they will draft offensive linemen for 10 rounds, defensive front seven players for 10 rounds and finally secondary players for 10 rounds. After that, there is an open draft for all teams to fill out the rest of their rosters.
Last week, the XFL slowly released the player pool for their upcoming draft. By Friday, we had a list of players who are available to be drafted in the upcoming XFL Draft. In this post, we are going to take a look at the most interesting players in the upcoming XFL Draft.
Most of these guys are former college stars and many of them at least had a cup of coffee in the NFL. These may not all be the most well-known guys, but there is a lot of talent in this pool of players. Without further ado, here are the most interesting players who are available to be taken in the upcoming XFL Draft.
Note: This is simply a list of interesting players put in alphabetical order. We are by no means ranking the best players in the XFL.
Roberto Aguayo, K, Florida State
Roberto Aguayo was one of the best kickers in the history of college football, connecting on 69-of-78 field goals throughout his career at Florida State. He was selected in the second round (59th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but ended up being a total bust in the NFL.
Aguayo was a fantastic kicker in college and if he can get his confidence back, he could be an extremely valuable piece to the puzzle for an XFL team.
Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Auburn
Cameron Artis-Payne was an absolute stud during his senior season at Auburn in 2014. That season, he rushed for 1,608 yards and 13 touchdowns on 303 carries and was a first-team All-SEC selection.
Artis-Payne was drafted in the fifth round (174th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He did play out his four-year rookie deal with the Panthers but was never able to make much of an impact. He will look to get his career back on track in the XFL.
