S. Grant Delpit. 14. player. 53. Pick Analysis. LSU. Scouting Report

LSU safety Grant Delpit is undoubtedly a top-ten player in the 2020 NFL draft class. That being said, no matter how good a safety prospect is, players at the position typically slide in the draft. Delpit should probably go earlier but based on the position he plays, I expect that he will fall a bit further than he probably should.

Taking that into account, Delpit falls perfectly into the laps of the Cleveland Browns at number 14 overall. The Browns could certainly use a long-term option at the safety position to pair with Damarious Randall. Delpit is an ideal fit.

Delpit is an extremely fast and athletic safety prospect who makes a consistent impact on the field no matter what he is doing. He plays downhill extremely well, filling running lanes like an impressive run-stuffing linebacker. Delpit is also an extremely reliable tackler in space.

On top of that, Delpit is an impressive player in coverage. He can handle most tight ends and running backs in man-to-man coverage and has even had some success against slot receivers. Delpit does not have much experience as a deep safety, he undoubtedly has the range and ball skills to make an impact there as well.

Simply put, Delpit is one of the most talented defensive players in the 2020 NFL draft class. He would also fill a major need for the Browns in the secondary and would fit alongside Randall extremely well. This fills like a perfect match.
