Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray set to explode vs. Atlanta Falcons
Make no mistake about it, Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray is about to go off this weekend.
Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray had the best game of his short NFL career last week. In a 26-23 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Murray completed 20-of-32 passes for 253 yards. Most impressively, he carried the ball 10 times for 93 yards and one touchdown. Simply put, Murray was a dynamic playmaker throughout the game against the Bengals and was a major reason why the Cardinals were able to come away with a win.
The Arizona Cardinals have finally started to play loose and let Murray simply make plays. Murray is a tremendous passer who is going to have success throwing the ball in the NFL, but he is a dynamic playmaker with his legs and needs to have the freedom to tuck it and run at any time. After seeing Murray dominate with his legs last week, I am sure that the Arizona Cardinals are fine with him continuing to run with the ball going forward.
This week, Murray and the Cardinals will face off against the Atlanta Falcons. The 1-4 Falcons have struggled to get anything going this season and have obvious issues on both sides of the ball. However, it is their defense that has been the biggest issue in Atlanta.
The Falcons have allowed the second-most points in the entire NFL (30.4) and have consistently struggled against the pass and the run. Atlanta has not been able to create any pressure up front and it has hurt their ability to defend the pass. The Falcons are undoubtedly exploitable in the deep passing game, and while we have not seen Murray let it rip much in the NFL, we know that he throws a good deep ball based on his days in college.
This feels like a great opportunity for Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury to unleash Murray on the rest of the NFL. The Falcons have not been able to stop anybody and Murray is starting to get his footing as a starting NFL quarterback. Watch out, Kyler Murray is set up for a massive NFL Week 5 performance.
