Round 1, No. 2 Overall: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia

Right now, the Redskins don’t have a second round pick (that could change if they move Trent Williams), so they need to make this first round pick count and it needs to be an elite player.

I know a lot of people want to see Chase Young be the pick here, as he is regarded as the top player in the class right now. But, the strength of this team right now is the front seven. Ryan Kerrigan, Da’Ron Payne, Johnathan Allen, and rookie Montez Sweat make up a great group.

The real need for this team is offensive line, especially to protect the future franchise quarterback in Dwayne Haskins. The right side with Brandon Scherff and Morgan Moses isn’t too bad, but the left side is rough right now, especially without Williams.

This is where Andrew Thomas can come in and be good from the moment he puts on the uniform. I don’t know why some analysts don’t have him in the elite group of players in this draft, but he should be.

Thomas has great strength and hands in pass protection and keeps defenders off-balance with ease. He is also a road grader in the run game and is quick off the snap. Thomas will play right away for the Redskins and give Dwayne Haskins a great protector.
