2020 NFL Draft Top 50 Big Board: Ranking the premier prospects
2019 stats (five games): 19 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 4 passes defended
Bryce Hall is a big and long cornerback prospect who has been starting for the University of Virginia for four seasons. He uses his length well in coverage and shows tremendous natural ball skills. He is also an extremely physical player who will rough a wide receiver up at the line of scrimmage.
He is an impressive cover cornerback who has nice upside at the next level but do not sleep on Hall’s ability to make plays against the run. He is an extremely tough and willing run defender who tackles well in space. Hall is one of the most impressive cornerbacks in a loaded 2020 NFL draft at the position.
2019 stats (four games): 17 receptions for 226 yards and two touchdowns. Also, 9 carries for 66 yards and 1 touchdown
Laviska Shenault Jr. has had a disappointing start to the 2019 season, but he has shown far too much to give up on him as a prospect yet. Shenault has enough speed and quickness to get open against most man coverage and is an absolute playmaker with the ball in his hands. He is also a tough and aggressive receiver who does a nice job of catching the ball at its highest point.
Shenault shows incredibly natural versatility as Colorado asks him to do everything for them on the offensive side of the ball. His 2020 NFL draft stock has certainly taken a hit this season, but I am still a fan of his overall game.
2019 stats (five games): 71.6 completion percentage, 1,341 yards, 15 touchdowns and 1 interception
Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert has all of the arm talent in the world. This guy can make any throw on the football field, but why does Oregon refuse to allow him to let it loose? Are the Ducks just unnecessarily conservative or is Herbert just checking down all of the time?
This guy has the physical skills to be a star at the next level. However, he does not seem to have the confidence to trust his arm and let it rip downfield often enough. Herbert is undoubtedly a first-round quarterback who has immense upside at the next level. However, he is a risky player who has significant downside if he ends up going as a top-five pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
2019 stats (five games): 66 carries for 460 yards and 4 touchdowns. Also, 10 receptions for 147 yards and 1 touchdown
D’Andre Swift is an extremely explosive and elusive running back prospect who fits the modern NFL game extremely well. He is a dynamic player with the ball in his hands who can take it to the house from anywhere on the field. Swift makes a consistent impact in both the running game and passing attack and will be a valuable asset at the next level. He is undoubtedly one of the most explosive playmakers in the 2020 NFL draft class.
2019 stats (five games): 103 carries for 745 and 12 touchdowns. Also, 12 receptions for 114 yards and 4 touchdowns
Jonathan Taylor is an absolute workhorse who is putting up massive numbers for the Wisconsin Badgers once again this season. He is a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate and a potential first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Taylor has a fantastic combination of quickness and power as a runner. He also shows good deep speed and tremendous natural contact balance.
Taylor has proven himself to be a capable pass-catcher out of the backfield this season, taking care of one of the only concerns about his game. At this point, the only issue I have with him as a prospect is his heavy college workload. How long with Taylor be able to hold up in the NFL? Only time will tell. One thing is for sure, this guy is going to be a dependable playmaker at the running back position at the next level.
