Stats in loss vs. Michigan

  • 4 total tackles
  • 1 interception
  • 1 pass breakup

The Hawkeyes have been a defensive back factory in recent years, putting out some excellent prospects seemingly annually nowadays.

Geno Stone may be the next best thing out of Iowa City.

As Brugler states, Stone has become a monster in the open field as a tackler, and is showing off unbelievable range and closing speed.

This play against Michigan is one he’ll have at the top of his highlight reel.

Only a junior, Stone has plenty of time to decide whether or not this is going to be the last season he plays with the Hawkeyes. We saw Amani Hooker cash in on a phenomenal junior season in 2018 and enter the 2019 NFL Draft, but he wasn’t rewarded with a very high draft status. He ended up getting picked by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round.

Still, Stone is a name worth filing away at this point as he’s showing excellent range for the Hawkeyes this season, along with ball skills and open-field tackling ability. He is also apparently able to teleport from anywhere on the field.
