2020 NFL Draft: Jordyn Brooks leads defensive stock up report
The 2020 NFL Draft is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, and rising players like Jordyn Brooks of Texas Tech will only add to the hype.
The 2020 NFL Draft class is looking better and better by the week, especially as players across the country continue emerging, seemingly by the game.
Although big-name prospects like Chase Young have typically dominated the headlines, there are guys all over the country making a strong impression on NFL scouts and it’s time to recognize a few.
Let’s take a look at whose stock is up on the defensive side of the ball lately, pegging one player at each level of the defense, starting at the linebacker position.
Although Brooks has been consistently productive for the Red Raiders over his first three seasons there (averaging 84 tackles per year), he’s having the best year of his career by far and is putting on a display weekly to NFL scouts.

Currently the leading tackler in the Big 12 (and how could he not be after racking up 19 tackles in one game), Brooks is — as Jim Nagy alludes to above — one of the hottest players in the country regardless of position.
In a draft class lacking for top-flight talent at the linebacker position, Brooks may have done enough already to establish himself as a top 50 candidate going forward. He’s certainly flying around the field enough.
You don’t put up stats like he is lately without top level instincts and anticipation at the linebacker position.
