Miami Dolphins 2020 7-round NFL Mock Draft: Rebuild starts with new QB
Round 1, #1 Overall: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
Right now, this pick isn’t completely set in stone, despite the “Tank for Tua” movement. There are rumors out there floating around that the Miami Dolphins like Utah State quarterback Jordan Love more than any other quarterback. Let’s also not forget that second-year quarterback Josh Rosen is on the roster, and still has plenty of upside under center.
However, Rosen hasn’t shown enough to this point to be considered the starter going forward. As for Love, he hasn’t lived up to his hype so far this season in college. So, the Dolphins go with a quarterback who can get this franchise going in the right direction.
Tua is the best quarterback in this draft class right now. He is accurate to all levels of the field, especially the intermediate area. Tua excels in the RPO game and makes slants look so easy off of that action.
There are also little things to his game that make him so effective, including pump fakes to move defenders which create openings. He has improved in 2019 with his movement in the pocket and handling pressure. We will get to see how he handles better defenses in the coming weeks.
Tua is the move to start the rebuild, and it’s a move the Dolphins will make.
