Key Auburn Players To Watch

QB Bo Nix – As a true freshman quarterback, Nix stepped into the role as the leader of the Auburn offense that carried plenty of weight. Especially with the expectations mirroring a certain dual-threat quarterback who guided the Tigers to a National Championship in 2010.

His initial season started a little rough but once the Tigers muscled out a win against Oregon in the season opener, it was clear that Auburn had a quarterback to build upon under center. Nix is coming off a 335-yard, 2-touchdown performance against Mississippi State last week which also included 56 rushing yards and another score.

Nix is undoubtedly going against a much more athletic defense in Florida. The youngster will have to keep his mistakes minimal yet also expect the Gators defense to throw every hurdle his way.

RB JaTarvious Whitlow – The redshirt sophomore is well on his way to exceeding his 2018 season with seven touchdowns on 5.0 yards per carry. Currently, Whitlow is third in the SEC in rushing yards (463) and also ran for a career-high three touchdowns against Mississippi State.

In four of his five games played, Whitlow averaged 4.2 yards or more per rush. This week, he is up against a Florida defense that is 26th in college football in rushing defense. In an offense that is predicated off of zone runs and read-pass options, Whitlow’s production is arguably the most important on offense for Auburn to gel.

LT Prince Tega Wanogho – On an offensive line with five senior starters, Wanogho stands out as the best of the bunch. The offensive line as a whole did have an uneven start to the season with a little inconsistent play but things have looked much better over the course of the past couple of games. Wanogho is going to truly be counted on to provide reliable protection against a Florida defensive line that is a huge reason why the Gators defense is tied for second in the nation in total sacks with 24.
