Buffalo Bills vs. Tennessee Titans NFL Week 5: Top rookies to watch

Who are the most important rookie players to watch when the Tennessee Titans host the Buffalo Bills for a Week 5 matchup?

The Buffalo Bills enter week five with a record of 3-1, with wins coming against the New York Jets, New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals. The Tennessee Titans, on the other hand, have split their first four games with a record of 2-2, beating the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 and the Atlanta Falcons last week.

The Bills will travel to Tennessee to play the Titans and hope to avoid losing two games in a row after losing a close game to the Patriots 16-10 last week.  Both defenses were stout Sunday afternoon but the game’s difference was the Patriots blocked punt for a return touchdown in the first quarter. Josh Allen threw three interceptions and had a passer rating of only 24.0 before exiting the game due to a concussion.

For the Titans, they hope to build on their performance last week, winning 24-10 against the  Falcons. After a dominating Week 1 against the Browns, the Titans dropped two key divisional games in a row to the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars before rebounding last week. Both games where the Titans have won, Mariota has passed for three touchdowns. In the Titans losses, quarterback Marcus Mariota only had one touchdown total.

This game is important for both teams as the Bills are one game back behind the Patriots for the AFC East lead and currently hold one of the wildcard spots at the quarter-point of the season. As for the Titans, there is a log jam in the AFC South with all four teams at 2-2 at the quarter-point of the season. One good thing for the Titans is they will have offensive tackle Taylor Lewan for the first time this season after he serves a four-game suspension.

The two teams have matched up 46 times with the Titans leading the series 28-18 all-time, though the Bills won the last two. The last three games between these teams have all been decided by a single point.

 So I see this game coming down to the wire again as these two defenses are better when they last played each other. I could see this being an extremely low scoring game. Now, let’s dig into which rookies can step up for each side in a premier AFC matchup.
