2020 NFL Mock Draft: Four teams land their QB of the future
8. Atlanta Falcons: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
It feels like every year the Atlanta Falcons’ biggest draft need is on their defensive line and this year is no different. Outside of Grady Jarrett, there just aren’t any real difference makers on that unit.
While the team still has high hopes for their 2017 first-round pick, Tak McKinley, the Falcons are still in need of another disrupter up front. Auburn’s Derrick Brown would be an excellent addition and would give Jarrett some much-needed help inside.
Watching Brown play is really something to see, as your eyes are immediately drawn to him off the snap. His first step is abrupt and he plays with ideal leverage that allows him to create push inside with ease.
He carries his near 320 pounds on a 6-foot-5 frame and uses that length to his advantage. Not only does this show up in the trenches but he also has shown a penitent for getting those limps up to bat down passes, as he’s knocked down three balls in just four games so far this season.
This would give Atlanta a big-time one-two-punch on the interior and can only stand to help free up McKinley as well. Brown would be an excellent addition for the Falcons.
