2020 NFL Mock Draft: Four teams land their QB of the future
6. Arizona Cardinals: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
Nobody in the NFL has been sacked more times than Kyler Murray through week 4 and while some of it can be blamed on Murray’s style of play, the Cardinals would be smart to add more talent to their offensive line.
The team traded a sixth-round pick for Marcus Gilbert during the offseason to man the right side this year, but a knee injury landed him on IR before ever making his debut with Arizona.
Now, that side of the line has been a major problem that the Cardinals will need to invest when 2020 comes around. With Gilbert’s injury history and his contract coming to an end after this season, the Cardinals should look at Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs as a potential replacement.
While Wirfs currently plays left tackle for the Hawkeyes, he has started 19 games in his career on the right side, so the versatility to perform on each end is there.
The Arizona Cardinals need to make keeping Murray off his back a priority if the experiment with him and head coach Kliff Kingsbury is going to work, and Tristan Wirfs is an excellent choice to help make that happen.
