5. New York Jets: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama

The Jets have had a rough start to the 2019 season and it’s already clear that they need help on both sides of the ball. However, the most pressing need is to surround Sam Darnold with as much talent as possible, so this 2020 NFL mock draft focuses on providing that.

While their offensive line could use an overhaul, Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy would be an immediate spark on an offense that has been sparkless thus far.

The Jets are dead last in the NFL in passing and while the easy blame is on the inexperience of Luke Falk having to fill in for the mono-stricken Sam Darnold, their receivers have been unable to make big plays to help him out.

In fact, the Jets are one of just three teams in the entire league that have yet to register a 40+ yard completion and their four completions of 20+ yards are twice as low as the next lowest total.

Jerry Jeudy is the best wide receiver in college football and is as sure a thing as there is in this draft.

His route running is already NFL ready and he has a bevy of moves to beat defenders with. He beats both man and zone looks and once the ball is in his hands he’s tough to get a hold of. Jeudy’s speed and shiftiness can make players trying to tackle him look silly and he would be an immediate upgrade on the Jets offense.
