EDGE. Buckeyes . Chase Young. 1. player. 812.

Knowing that I would be holding the second overall pick in this mock draft, I only had two names on my radar. If he were available, I wanted to take Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to be the Bengals’ franchise quarterback. If he goes number one, Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young is the pick. With Tagovailoa going number one and me not being a huge fan of Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert, Young was the obvious choice here.

Young is the best defensive prospect in the 2020 NFL draft class and arguably the best overall prospect available. He is a freak on the edge who has massive upside and would reshape the Cincinnati Bengals’ entire defense going forward.

Young has been absolutely dominant this season, piling up eight sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles in only five games. He showcases a ridiculous combination of size, power, quickness and overall athleticism on the edge. Young is incredibly quick off of the ball, can bend around the corner with absolute ease and bull rush the quarterback as well as anybody.

He also closes on the quarterback with incredible quickness, sets the edge extremely well against the run and shows a wide range of pass-rushing moves. Simply put, Young is an absolute star on the defensive line and will quickly grow into one of the premier edge rushers in the entire NFL. Honestly, this pick was pretty easy. Young is simply too good for the Cincinnati Bengals to pass up.
