The Giants obviously have Saquon Barkley and Wayne Gallman in their backfield, and Gallman is a fine backup to Barkley, but if the Giants are planning on keeping Barkley’s workload up, they had better prepare contingencies.

Cam Akers had a down 2018 season for the Seminoles but has bounced back in a big way in 2019 and looks like he could be one of the gems of the 2020 NFL Draft class.

Capable of ripping off big runs and contributing in the passing game, Akers is making defenders miss at an alarmingly high rate so far in 2019.

The Giants’ arsenal of offensive weaponry cannot be too deep with a young quarterback. Akers is a guy who can make defenders miss and would be a great asset to have in case something were to happen with Barkley.

Heck, they would probably even be able to give this type of a back snaps and keep Barkley fresh throughout games.
