Scouting Report. S. LSU. player. 1. 817. Pick Analysis. Grant Delpit

Although the Giants were able to recoup a playmaker at safety in their Odell Beckham Jr. trade by acquiring former first-round pick Jabrill Peppers (who had a pick-six against the Redskins this past weekend), LSU’s Grant Delpit could be exactly what this team needs on the back end.

He’s off to somewhat of a quiet season so far in 2019 statistically with no interceptions and just one pass breakup through LSU’s first four games, but Delpit was an absolute monster as a sophomore for the Tigers.

2018 stats

  • 74 total tackles
  • 9.5 tackles for loss
  • 5 sacks
  • 5 interceptions
  • 9 pass breakups
  • 1 forced fumble

Delpit has a strong all-around game, and attacks the line of scrimmage with aggressiveness and instincts.

He’s usually a sure tackler and knows when to go for the football. He has excellent range and could be the perfect complement to Peppers for the Giants.
