Denver Broncos 2020 NFL Draft: Complete seven-round mock draft
Tariq Castro-Fields is a smart football player who consistently seems to understand what the offense is trying to do. He reads the quarterback well and reacts quickly on the ball. He is a solid man-to-man defender but seems more comfortable in zone. He is a solid press defender, using his long arms to make life difficult for receivers at the line of scrimmage.
The Penn State product is also a strong run defender who fights through blocks well and is a great tackler in space. There are physical limitations here, but Castro Fields is a rock-solid football player who can be a consistent performer at the next level. He played cornerback in college, but I wonder if he would be better suited at safety at the next level. I could see Castro-Fields have success as a third safety who primary plays in-the-box, but could also defend the slot.
With their final pick of this mock draft, the Denver Broncos bring in Wisconsin edge rusher, Zack Baun. Baun is far from the most explosive edge rusher in the 2020 NFL draft class, but he is a high-motor and consistent player who could play himself into a valuable role at the next level.
Baun is quick off of the ball, moves well in space and is always playing hard. He lacks ideal bend around the edge and is never going to win with raw athleticism, but he is a quick and smart player who can create pressure on the quarterback. Baun is also a natural run defender who can hold his own at the point of attack.
Simply put, he is an extremely high-motor player who could provide some quality depth on the edge for the Denver Broncos. At worst, his motor and quickness should provide some value on special teams.
