The Miami Dolphins absolute crush the first round of this 2020 NFL mock draft.

The 2019 season may be a disaster for the Miami Dolphins, but when the 2020 NFL Draft comes around, they are going to quickly become one of the most interesting teams in the entire league. In his recent 2020 NFL mock draft for Bleacher Report, Joe Tansey has the Dolphins absolutely nailing their three first-round picks.

First, Tansey has the Dolphins solving their quarterback situation by drafting Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa with the third overall pick. After that, Miami uses the fourth overall pick (from the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers) to land Iowa defensive end A.J. Epenesa. Lastly, the Miami Dolphins draft Stanford cornerback Paulson Adebo at number 25, which is the pick that they received from the Houston Texans in the Laremy Tunsil deal.

While the Dolphins’ roster is currently a mess with obvious needs all over the roster, I like this NFL mock draft for them because they found impact players at some of the most important positions on the field.

Tagovailoa is an impressive quarterback prospect who has a massive ceiling at the next level. He is an extremely smart and aware quarterback prospect who also has the combination of great mobility and a strong arm that fits the modern game. On top of that, he is an incredibly accurate passer who places the ball well and hits his receivers in stride at all levels.

Aside from Ohio State’s Chase Young, Epenesa is not only the best defensive lineman in this draft class, but he is also arguably the best defensive player. Epenesa has an incredible combination of quickness and power up front that he uses to dominate against the run and as a pass rusher. Everybody knows that Epenesa is a big and powerful guy, but do not discount his explosiveness and upfield burst on the edge.

Adebo is not as established as Tagovailoa and Epenesa, but he is arguably the best cornerback prospect in the entire 2020 NFL draft class. The Stanford product is a converted wide receiver whose athleticism and stickiness in man-to-man coverage stand out on tape. Pairing Adebo with Xavien Howard would give the Miami Dolphins an impressive cornerback duo to build their defense around.

Quarterback is the most important position in football, and edge rusher and cornerback are not far behind. In this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Miami Dolphins filled some of the most important positions on a football team with three fantastic players. With a ton of draft capital, the Dolphins are obviously going to get a lot of talent in the 2020 NFL Draft no matter what. However, this mock draft scenario would be ideal.
