The 2020 NFL Draft is shaping up to be a legendary class at the wide receiver position. Is Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy the best player in the country?

Alabama has so many talented players eligible for the 2020 NFL Draft (what’s new?) and a couple of legit first-round talents at the wide receiver position. One of those players is Jerry Jeudy, who might just be the best player in all of college football.

Jeudy, who just turned 20 this past April, is already one of the most refined prospects you will see at the receiver position coming out of college.

Not only is he an exceptional route runner, Jeudy uses every weapon in his arsenal to win on a snap-by-snap basis, not the least of which is his elite speed.

He made an example of South Carolina throughout this highlight reel.

So far this season, Jeudy has been putting up big numbers for Alabama, catching 30 passes for 404 yards and six touchdowns.

Even though he averaged over 19 yards per catch last season and is at just over 13 this season, Jeudy’s big play ability has taken seemingly another step forward. He is putting on a weekly clinic on route running, footwork, and just generally putting 100 percent effort into every single snap.

Why Jeudy is a problem for defenses

Why Jeudy is a significant problem for the opposing team, and why he is going to be regarded as a top three prospect for the 2020 NFL Draft, is his ability not only to create separation but the fact that he’s a true sub-4.4 speed guy after the catch.

Jeudy is so fast, defenses have to respect him deep, but he’s such a nuanced route runner at this point that defenses also get caught in their backpedal going in reverse way too fast before he uses his acceleration to stop on a dime and change directions before defenders even know what’s going on.

If a team picking at the top of the 2020 NFL Draft has a quarterback in place, Jeudy could contend for the number one overall pick in April.

Right now everyone assumes that the top pick is going to the Dolphins and that they’re taking a quarterback, but there are a few really good QBs in this class and there’s only one Jerry Jeudy.

dark. Next. The game is slowing down for Justin Herbert

Could he be that good that some team would take him over their top rated QB?
