2020 NFL Draft: Which running backs will end up getting paid?
By Ian Higgins
Eno Benjamin, Arizona State
Eno Benjamin is an undersized back at 5-foot-10, 201 pounds, but uses his size well with impressive agility and a choppy running style. His short strides allow for quick change of direction and movement between running lanes.
He can sometimes slip through tackles and fall forward for yardage, but his size works against him for the most part. He is also effective as a receiver out of the backfield, using his agility to blow by linebackers in mismatch coverage.
As previously stated, Benjamin’s size works against him when going one-on-one with tacklers in the hole and at the sticks, commonly being overpowered and pushed back. Benjamin doesn’t have elite speed to break plays or get to the edge before other players, but he is able to change angles to make his situation more favorable.
I would compare Benjamin very closely to Dion Lewis, an undersized back with short, choppy strides and the ability to change angles and create a more favorable situation for himself to make up for his size and speed deficiencies.
He likely will not be a lead back in a strong backfield, but instead be either a leader in a committee, complementary back to a star or the lead back in a weak backfield. I personally do not see Benjamin as a prospect who will produce on the level of the NFL stars, but instead, be a respected contributor who could fit many systems.
