Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault is a highly touted 2020 NFL Draft prospect, and he finally had his breakout performance this season.

At this point, Colorado Buffaloes fans would probably prefer Laviska Shenault just continued with underwhelming stat lines while their team won games after starting 2-0, because the 2020 NFL Draft prospect’s breakout performance came in a crushing overtime loss to the Air Force Falcons.

On Colorado’s home field.

Shenault is known for his abilities to make plays after the catch as well as simply dominate in space with speed, strength, and great field vision.

He’s been compared to Cordarrelle Patterson for his ability to play as a receiver, returner, running back, and pretty much whatever else.

Through two games — including a big win over Nebraska in week two — Shenault had been quiet. That all changed against Air Force when he made his presence felt in a big way.

Shenault caught eight passes in this game and touched the ball offensively 11 times total for 149 yards and two touchdowns, one receiving and one rushing.

What we see on that play from the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Shenault is what everyone has been drooling over since the end of last season.

Not only is Shenault big and physical, he’s got strong hands and speed to burn. It won’t surprise me to see him be one of the freakiest athletes at the 2020 NFL scouting combine, assuming he declares himself eligible for the draft.

Right now, Shenault is just about on pace with what he was last season as far as impact per play, averaging 10.8 yards per touch compared to 10.9 a season ago.

As the season goes along, expect his touches to continue to go up and his hype to rise considerably.

The 2020 NFL Draft class is absolutely loaded at the top of the wide receiver class, and Shenault has rare skills to potentially put him within the top 20 picks.
