Carolina Panthers: Seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft
1. Grant Delpit, S, LSU
If I had to guess, I would assume that LSU safety Grant Delpit will not actually make it to the 14th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. That being said, if their current disaster season continues, the Carolina Panthers could also be picking much higher once next April rolls around. In this mock draft scenario, Delpit is available for the Panthers and is an obvious selection for the team.
Delpit is not only one of the best defensive players in all of college football, but he is also going to be one of the premier prospects in the 2020 NFL draft class. He is an incredible natural athlete who shows an impressive combination of size, speed and power at the point of attack.
He is an explosive defender who uses his speed well to fly into the box to make plays against the run and also close on the ball quickly in coverage. Delpit is a true playmaker at the safety position who shows an extremely well-round skillset. He is a force against the run who tackles well in space, can handle almost any kind of receiver in man-to-man coverage and has impressive overall skills as a deep safety.
Delpit is the kind of player who can come in and immediately take a defense to the next level. He is an extremely talented safety who could make an immediate impact and would give the Carolina Panthers a fantastic young player to build their defense around.
