There are plenty of 2020 NFL Draft prospects to keep an eye on as week three of college football action gets underway early on Saturday.

Week three of the college football slate of games kicks off with some intriguing early matchups, not so much in terms of the college landscape but more so in terms of the fact that we get to evaluate some important players with question marks as it relates to the 2020 NFL Draft.

The biggest-name player available in 2020 playing in the 12-1 PM slots? Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm (12 PM ET, ESPN2 vs. Arkansas State).

Fromm and the Bulldogs are easily 2-0 this season, averaging 521 yards of total offense per game in those two games, but Fromm hasn’t had to do a whole lot.

Georgia is averaging just under 300 rushing yards per game so far, and Fromm has thrown the ball just 34 times for 324 yards and two touchdowns (no interceptions).

Although Fromm is not leading any Heisman polls at this point, he’s completed 73.5 percent of his passes through what essentially amounts to one game’s worth of work and he’s operating the offense effectively.

Surprisingly, there were a couple of moments during last week’s Murray State contest where Fromm actually was struggling to get things going, and then it was like a light went on and he just started attacking the ball downfield, making one throw after another before he was rested for the second half.

Fromm isn’t going to make national headlines by beating Arkansas State, but he can continue to solidify what I believe to be a very strong first-round status for the 2020 NFL Draft with another efficient performance.

Although Fromm is underwhelming from a statistical perspective, he’s just about a dream for every coach in the NFL as far as his ability to run and operate an offense, see the entire field, make throws deep, convert in the red zone, and just generally make good decisions and lead a team well.

If you’re comparing Fromm to other quarterbacks in the 2020 class (or guys who will potentially be available), he can seem somewhat underwhelming, if not boring at times. He maybe doesn’t have the same type of ‘wow’ factor to his game as other guys but if all Fromm is is maddeningly consistent, he’s going to make a lot of money in the NFL and he’s probably one of the best bets to start right away.

Other 2020 NFL Draft prospects to watch

  • RB D’Andre Swift (Georgia): Swift is averaging 9.8 yards per carry in two games this season. In his third year with the Bulldogs, Swift is one of the best all-around backs in the country with big play ability and balance as a runner and receiver. He could be the top RB selected in 2020.
  • OT Andrew Thomas (Georgia): Maybe the best offensive tackle in the 2020 NFL Draft crop, Thomas is an absolute beast in the running game and a reigning first-team All-American. At 6-foot-5, 320 pounds, he’s a shoe-in for the top 10 of the 2020 draft if he stays healthy.
  • TE Eli Wolf (Georgia): Transfer from Tennessee had a big game against Murray State. Athletic move TE who could fill a stat sheet in the receiving game.
