Devin Bush, LB, Steelers

First-round linebacker Devin Bush is the premier player in this rookie class for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is not only their most important rookie player, but he is also one of their most important players on the entire roster.

The Steelers made Bush a priority in the 2019 NFL Draft, trading up to the 10th overall pick from number 20 to get him on their roster. Bush is an incredibly exciting linebacker prospect who shows fantastic speed and athleticism in the middle of the field.

He is a true playmaker at the inside linebacker position, he can dominate against the run, in coverage and even in pass-rush situations. Bush is in an extremely gifted player who is going to make a major impact on the Steelers’ defense. If he can come in and make plays all over the field right away, the Steelers are going to quickly improve on that side of the ball. Pittsburgh needs Bush to make an immediate impact.

Diontae Johnson, WR, Steelers

Besides Bush, the Steelers are not going to be asking much out of their rookie class early in the season. Basically, they have a bunch of guys who will be providing quality depth and special teams value. However, wide receiver Diontae Johnson should be able to make an impact if given the opportunity.

Johnson is a quick and elusive wide receiver who simply knows how to get open in the middle of the field. He is a fantastic option out of the slot who could give Pittsburgh valuable snaps at a position where they lack proven talent. Johnson is also a strong punt returner who should get some chances to shine in that area. He is certainly a guy who I will have an eye on Sunday night, assuming he gets a chance to prove himself.
