A deep breakdown of the Atlanta Falcons 53-man roster
Breaking down the Atlanta Falcons 53-man roster.
With the first football Sunday right around the corner, the Atlanta Falcons have their 53-man roster set and are ready for the season to begin. One major note on this Falcons roster is that they kept six running backs/fullbacks. To some, this may be a surprise but Dirk Koetter likes to use running backs vastly throughout his offensive game plan.
There has been many new faces as well as old faces on this roster for the 2019 NFL season and with this initial 53-man roster, the Atlanta Falcons are set up for a strong run this year.
Last season, the Atlanta Falcons finished the season with a disappointing record of 7-9 and hope to improve on that this year. In the offseason, many coaching changes were made. Steve Sarkisian was let go after two seasons as the offensive coordinator and was replaced with Dirk Koetter who previously held the position in Atlanta before his stint as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Falcons also parted ways with defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel and special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong in hopes of changing the culture on this team this upcoming season. Head coach Dan Quinn will take over play-calling duties this season on defense and Ben Kotwica will take over for special teams. Ben Kotwica came over from the Washington Redskins after spending five years in the same role there.
This is an interesting roster filled with talented playmakers on both sides of the ball. Let’s get a deeper look at what the Atlanta Falcons have to work with this season. Here is a complete position-by-position breakdown the Atlanta Falcons’ 53-man roster to begin the 2019 season.
