Round 1, Pick 12: Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio State

The Oakland Raiders find themselves in an interesting position right off of the bat in this mock draft. Picking 12th overall, the Raiders are out of the reach of many of the top-tier prospects in this class. LSU safety Grant Delpit is the best player available on the board, but after taking Johnathan Abram in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft and already having Lamarcus Joyner and Karl Joseph on the roster, taking a safety here would not make any sense.

I did consider taking Utah State quarterback Jordan Love to replace Carr under center for the Raiders. Love has all of the physical tools needed to be a star quarterback at the next level, but in this range of the NFL draft, he is undoubtedly a risky pick.

Eventually, I landed on Ohio State cornerback Jeffrey Okudah. This pick is a scenario where the Raiders find an extremely talented player at a major position of need.

Okudah is a fantastic athlete at the cornerback position, showing impressive quickness in short spaces, great closing speed and fantastic overall fluidity in coverage. He is a stick man-to-man defender who can dominate in press coverage and make plays in off-man.

In Okudah, the Raiders find an incredibly gifted cornerback prospect who could legitimately grow into a shutdown option on the outside.
