The Clemson Tigers rolled over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Tee Higgins was able to show of his WR1 stuff in the process.

In a draft class that is already loaded at the skill positions, specifically at wide receiver, Clemson’s Tee Higgins could establish himself as the top receiver in the class.

Higgins is a 6-foot-4 receiver with speed to burn, incredible ball skills, and the ability to make difficult contested catches look routine.

That was Higgins’ reputation heading into Clemson’s season opener against Georgia Tech, and that’s exactly what he put on display.

Against the over-matched Yellow Jackets, Higgins hauled in four passes for 98 yards and a touchdown, and his touchdown is going to be tough to top all year long as far as impressive individual plays go.

It’s all on display here.

  • Deep speed
  • Catch Radius
  • Ability to create after the catch
  • Strong hands
  • Concentration
  • Alpha mentality

Who needs great separation when you’ve got hands this strong? My word.

Higgins uses his length and strong hands here to come back for this pass, not the best ball Trevor Lawrence has ever thrown, but thrown in a place where Higgins could catch it, which is simply his general vicinity.

Clemson has had so many strong receivers coming out lately, but this group they have right now might be the best I have seen.

Higgins caught 59 passes for 936 yards and 12 touchdowns last year. He has some dominant traits and is competing right now with Jerry Jeudy (Alabama), Laviska Shenault (Colorado), Jalen Reagor (TCU), and CeeDee Lamb (Oklahoma) for the top overall spot at wide receiver in such a stellar class.

Next. Oregon vs. Auburn top prospects to watch. dark

Higgins’ traits were on display against Georgia Tech, but so were Travis Etienne’s. Etienne is considered by many to be the top running back prospect available for 2020 and he showed out, running for 205 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries.
