Although he is only a junior, Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses was expected to be a top player at LB for the 2020 NFL Draft class prior to his injury.

The 2020 NFL Draft could be significantly affected by the injury to Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses, a true junior and former five-star prospect who was the next great ‘Bama linebacker to be taken high in the NFL Draft.

Although he wasn’t even a full-time starter the entirety of his first two years with the team, Moses racked up 116 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, an interception, and a pair of forced fumbles.

He is a big-time playmaker and he will obviously be sorely missed by Alabama, but NFL teams are going to have to completely re-think their boards at inside linebacker.

Moses reportedly tore his ACL in Alabama’s evening practice, the week of most teams’ season opening games.

Most players who suffer ACL injuries are coming back at full strength these days, and for a lot of guys, it’s not even taking a full year to get back to form.

That is obviously the hope for Moses, who could still wind up declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft thanks to the fact that he was easily the top off-ball linebacker available.

Other guys like Troy Dye out of Oregon will be under a little extra pressure now to perform with the top spot up for grabs. That doesn’t mean anyone’s getting taken in the top 32 picks, however.

Some people like Shaq Quarterman out of Miami as a top 50 player, others like Jacob Phillips out of LSU or even Monty Rice out of Georgia.

With the injury to Moses, one thing is certain — someone’s going to have to step up and take his place as the undisputed top inside linebacker in this class. Will we see him return for a senior season at Alabama, or is his body of work enough at this point for teams to take a shot on him in the top 32 picks still?

That’s going to be a tough decision at season’s end, and you can bet that Moses is going to consult the NFL Draft advisory board to find out.

What if he comes back to Alabama for another year and hurts his knee again? His stock could nosedive. Right now, his stock is high, and teams are only going to knock him for the injury. You would hate to see him go back and something else go wrong.
