Indianapolis Colts: Five potential Andrew Luck replacements
Teddy Bridgewater
Last, but not least, we are going to take a look at New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. The Saints have continued to invest in Bridgewater and appear to want him to take over their team after Drew Brees. That being said, Bridgewater will be a free agent next offseason and the Colts could offer him a starting job in a good situation.
Bridgewater is a former first-round pick whose NFL career has not gone according to plan. He was solid early in his career with the Minnesota Vikings, starting 28 games through the first two years of his career. In those first two seasons, Bridgewater completed 64.9% of his passes for 6,150 yards, 28 touchdowns and 21 interceptions.
Bridgewater was far from perfect early in his career, but he showed enough promise where he should have gotten another shot. Unfortunately, a devastating knee injury forced him out of action in 2016 and he has never gotten another opportunity to start since.
The Indianapolis Colts may have to get creative in order to replace Andrew Luck and signing a formerly promising young star like Bridgewater may be the right path. Bridgewater is still a talented player who has legitimate franchise quarterback upside. If the Colts cannot attack the quarterback position in the draft, adding Bridgewater to the mix could be an ideal scenario.
