Marcus Mariota

If the Indianapolis Colts look to replace Andrew Luck in free agency next offseason, Marcus Mariota could end up being a logical target for the team. Mariota has had an up-and-down career with the Tennessee Titans, but he still has a legitimate franchise quarterback skill-set. Maybe Frank Reich and company could get more out of Mariota than the Titans were ever able to?

More from NFL Mocks

Mariota is an extremely mobile quarterback who can pick up yardage with his legs and create extra time for himself to make plays downfield. He also has legitimate NFL arm strength and solid overall accuracy a majority of the time.

It is easy to see why Mariota is a former top-tier NFL draft prospect, but it has not all clicked for him in the NFL. Mariota is entering his fifth season with the Titans and unless they lock him up with an extension, he will hit the open market next offseason. The Titans appear ready to move on from Mariota and could replace him with Ryan Tannehill during the season.

While signing a failed draft pick of your division rival to be your franchise quarterback is not ideal, the Colts have a rock-solid offensive structure in place that could be great for Mariota. I could see Reich putting him in situations to succeed and the Colts’ offensive playmakers making him look better than he has ever been in Tennessee.

Mariota would not be an ideal Andrew Luck replacement, but he is a talented player who would have some upside in their offense. He would not be a terrible flyer to take in free agency.
