Indianapolis Colts: Five potential Andrew Luck replacements
Jacoby Brissett
Jacoby Brissett is going to get the first shot to replace Luck for the Colts. He is now their obvious starting quarterback and will likely get a legitimate opportunity to lead this franchise going forward.
Brissett has been one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL in recent years and undoubtedly has the ability to be a solid starter. Through 23 career games (17 starts) with the Colts and New England Patriots, Brissett has completed 59.1% of his passes for 3,500 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
He is a strong-armed quarterback who can make any throw on the football field. Brissett also has good mobility and shows the ability to read through his progressions and find the correct target to get the ball to. He is also an extremely tough and powerful quarterback who can stand strong in the pocket and create extra time to make plays downfield.
Brissett does struggle with accuracy at times, especially when he is on the move. He is a true playmaker who can make plays outside the structure of the offense, but Brissett will make some ugly throws that could get him into some major trouble.
Brissett is never going to be an elite-level franchise quarterback who can save the Indianapolis Colts. However, he may be good enough to help them compete with the right talent surrounding him. If the Colts can continue to stockpile talent on both sides of the ball, Brissett could have enough to lead them to the promised land.
