2019 NFL Draft: How are all first-round picks doing in preseason play?
On the latest NFL Mocks Podcast, we take a look at the 2019 NFL Draft class and how each player has looked so far in preseason action.
Despite the shock of Baker Mayfield and NFL fans everywhere, Daniel Jones is playing well and looking like he belonged in the top 10 of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Other rookies from this year’s NFL Draft class have been showing off their ability to make an instant impact, and a very high percentage of this year’s first round picks appear on their way to making a strong impression in the regular season.
On the latest NFL Mocks Podcast, host Brooks Austin and I looked at four standout rookies around the league and did our best to recap the entire first round in one sentence (let’s be honest, it was more like one paragraph) about each guy and the progress they’ve made up to this point.
If you have a specific place you typically like to listen to podcasts, we’ve probably got you covered. You can listen on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and Spreaker, or you can just leave your browser open here and hit play.
If you prefer written form, here are some of the highlights.
Garrett Bradbury, C, Minnesota Vikings
Brooks had a lot of good things to say about Minnesota Vikings rookie center Garrett Bradbury, the first-round pick out of North Carolina State.
Bradbury was considered the best interior lineman in this year’s class by some, and he’s proving to be an instant impact player for the Vikings in more ways than just peeing his pants at practice.
Bradbury got some love from Brian Baldinger, whose film breakdowns have become legendary.
Chase Winovich, DE, New England Patriots
Believe it or not, the Patriots have the defensive player with the most pressures and sacks so far in the preseason.
That player is Chase Winovich, the third-round pick out of Michigan.
Winovich was vastly under-drafted and is an obvious and perfect fit with the Patriots. He has 12 total pressures and three sacks in two games. He was not a first-round pick, of course, but Winovich made our list of the top four most impressive rookies thus far.
Come for the first-round recap, stay for Brooks’ attempt to make a newspaper-style, alliteration-littered headline for all of his first round picks (even numbers) while I try to skip over Dwayne Haskins and Dexter Lawrence just to get to Jeffrey Simmons, who isn’t even playing.
