2019 NFL Draft: Predicting touchdown totals for top rookie wide receivers
N’Keal Harry, New England Patriots: 32nd pick of 2019 NFL Draft
The last receiver the New England Patriots drafted in the first round of the NFL draft was Terry Glenn way back in 1996. That is until they took former Arizona State standout N’Keal Harry 32nd overall in this year’s festivities.
Harry was one of the premier playmakers in all of college football over the last couple seasons and will look to bring some of that spark to an offense that will be looking to fill that void after Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement.
He is a big-bodied receiver that specializes in high pointing the football and has surprising wiggle for someone his build. Harry should immediately give the Patriots a red zone threat that can use his size and toughness to bully smaller DB’s right away.
New England’s need for young talent at the position was clear and Harry should provide them with a spark that is the perfect contrast to what Julian Edelman gives them.
TD Prediction: 5
Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers: 36th pick of 2019 NFL Draft
With the addition of Deebo Samuel, the 49ers now have a collection of speeders with plus route running ability that should give defenses quite the headache in 2019.
The former South Carolina standout finished his career in the top ten in both receptions and yards for the Gamecocks and was one of the most electrifying players with the ball in his hands in the country.
He plays with an edge and thrives at working his way into the middle of the field, so I suspect he will immediately provide the 49ers with a quick, fearless option in the slot.
His toughness, competitive nature and playmaking ability will make him a popular player early on for the San Francisco faithful, but I don’t see him being a heavily targeted player just yet.
With that said, I do believe he will make the most of the opportunities he does receive and put together an impactful rookie campaign.
TD Prediction: 4
