Quick, name the four or five guys everyone in the NFL media throws out there when talking about the top cornerbacks in the NFL today.

Stephon Gilmore. Jalen Ramsey. Patrick Peterson. Is Darrelle Revis still in the league? We have to include Denzel Ward now, right? He plays for the Browns.

The NFL media consistently overlooks great players, and one player who has not gotten his due attention even after a stellar collegiate career at the University of Iowa is Chargers cornerback Desmond King.

Desmond King finished the 2018 season with 62 total tackles, 10 pass breakups, three interceptions, four tackles for loss, 840 total return yards, a punt return touchdown, and an interception returned for a touchdown.

King also had a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

In short, he was one of the most consistently impactful players in all of football last year defensively, and while he was recognized as an All-Pro for his return skills, King’s abilities in the slot and playing cornerback have gone underrated.

Significantly.

This guy is a superstar with just two years in the NFL under his belt. He will continually get better.
