2019 NFL Draft: Which rookies stood out in preseason openers?
Andre Dillard, OT, Philadelphia Eagles
As a former offensive lineman, Brooks Austin is naturally drawn to the men in the trenches.
One player who stood out regardless of position, however, was Andre Dillard.
The Houston Texans have to be kicking themselves for not moving up a couple of spots and securing this guy, who put on a fun display of silky smooth pass pro in the Eagles’ preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans.
Dillard will obviously open up the 2019 season as Jason Peters’ backup, but if either Peters or right tackle Lane Johnson go down with injuries, Dillard will be called upon, and he looks like he will be able to be relied upon, even at a young age.
The Eagles are set up so well with this guy in the fold. They will be able to have what looks like a premiere player at a premiere position on a rookie contract for the next five years.
Dillard played 33 snaps — 22 of them in pass pro — and he didn’t allow a single pressure.
