3. A.J. Epenesa, EDGE, Iowa

A.J. Epenesa had an absolutely dominant season with the Iowa Hawkeyes as a true sophomore in 2018. Epenesa led the Big Ten with 11 sacks on the season and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection by the media. The best part? Epenesa did all of this while playing a backup role with the Hawkeyes.

With many veteran players on the defensive line, Epenesa was not asked to play a major role for the Hawkeyes in 2018, but he still dominated. We are all incredibly excited to see what he can do with a full load of snaps in 2019.

Epenesa is a big and strong defensive end who is best known for the power in his game. His power at the point of attack is special as he consistently drives back opposing offensive linemen both against the run and the pass.

While Epenesa’s power is elite, do not discount this guy’s ability to move. He is a big man, but he carries his weight extremely well. Epenesa gets off of the ball quickly and can legitimately bend around the edge with ease. He has tremendous burst and can close on the quarterback quickly.

Epenesa has elite upside as both a pass rusher and run defender at the next level. He is the kind of player who has both an extremely high floor and an extremely high ceiling. He is the best defensive prospect in the 2020 draft class.

If Epenesa continues to dominate with more snaps in 2019, he is undoubtedly a threat to go number one overall.
