Miles Sanders will eventually separate himself as the featured back for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles have plenty of capable running backs on their roster. However, with all due respect to guys like Jordan Howard, Corey Clement, Darren Sproles and Wendell Smallwood, rookie Miles Sanders is the Eagles best back. Before it’s all said and done, I believe that Sanders will have a massive role with the Eagles this season, but it might take a while to get him there.

Howard is expected to come in as the Eagles starting running back and is seeing most of the first-team reps in training camp. Clement will also likely still have a role and the Eagles will undoubtedly find snaps for Sproles as well. It will not be easy for Sanders to break into the rotation, but Philadelphia did not draft him in the second round for nothing, he will get an opportunity.

Sanders is a patient back who does a nice job of finding holes in the run game. That being said, once he finds the hole, Sanders does not waste any time making a play. His burst through the hole is impressive and he has the necessary quickness to pick up tough yardage in small spaces.

Sanders also has good elusiveness in the open field and consistently finishes low and with plenty of power. His value in the run game is obvious, but do not discount Sanders’ ability to make an impact in the passing attack. He is a capable pass-catcher who gets upfield quickly and picks up extra yardage after the catch.

While he has been slowed by a minor hamstring injury, Sanders has been turning heads in training camp.

When it comes down to it, Sanders is the best back on the Eagles’ roster. Sure, there are things to like about Howard and some of the others, but none of them raise the ceiling for the Eagles in 2019 like Miles Sanders.

It may not be Week 1, but eventually, the Philadelphia Eagles are let Sanders loose and he is going to be a fantastic playmaker for them in the backfield.
