Let’s be honest, Jameis Winston is not going to get the job done. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will likely be looking to find a new franchise quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are giving quarterback Jameis Winston one last shot to prove himself. Winston is entering the final year of his rookie contract and the Bucs brought in Bruce Arians as their new head coach this offseason to try to get the most out of him.

Arians is a quarterback whisperer who has had a ton of success grooming players at the position in the past, but Winston is a lost cause. He might be able to help Winston slightly improve in 2019, but when push comes to shove, I fully expect the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to be looking for a new quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft.

It is true that Arians has always done well at the quarterback position. He has also always had good to great quarterbacks to work with. Unless he significantly improves, Winston is not a good quarterback.

He has the big arm, but consistently struggles with accuracy, does not know how to read defenses and struggles mightily under pressure. Winston is an absolute turnover machine and he has yet to show any signs of turning it around in recent years.

On top of that, the Bucs one of the worst rosters in the NFL when it comes to pure talent. They simply do not have many impact players on either side of the ball and unless Arians is a miracle worker, they will likely be one of the worst teams in the league this season.

However, there is good news. If Winston and the Bucs bottom out in 2019, there will be no reason for them to move forward with the former first-overall pick and they will be in a great position to replace him in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Led by Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert and Jake Fromm, the 2020 quarterback class has a lot of promise. Herbert is probably the most talented guy of the bunch, but Tagovailoa is not far behind and has had a ton of success in college. Fromm is not going to “wow” you, but he is a tough and reliable kid who you can count on to make plays when you need him the most. Simply put, the Bucs will have a chance to get their franchise guy in this draft.

Whether it’s Tagovailoa, Herbert, Fromm or somebody who comes out of nowhere, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will likely be looking for their franchise quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. Winston’s days as a starting quarterback in the NFL are limited.
