Now that we’ve gone over the four rookie quarterback most likely to start for their teams in 2019, let’s review.

  • Kyler Murray: The Cardinals have made some nice moves to help this team build for the future, but the future may be further away than Cardinals fans hope. Murray will have a great rookie season, but he may not have all the pieces he needs to get his team into the playoff picture just yet. I can see them being competitive, far more than last season, but with the Seahawks and Rams in their division, it’ll be tough to earn a playoff spot.
  • Daniel Jones: With the Giants having maybe a little too much faith in Manning, Jones likely won’t be on the field for a decent chunk of the season. However, there’s a good chance he sees the field after the Giants aren’t really competing for a playoff spot. Jones likely won’t perform at a level higher than Manning if he does start, and the Giants don’t really have the pieces around him for him to do so anyway. This team likely won’t be in the playoffs, making it very difficult for Jones to lead his team to the Super Bowl.
  • Dwayne Haskins: Haskins has his work cut out for him to win the starting quarterback job, but I believe he will take over for Keenum sooner rather than later. When Haskins does see the field, I believe his game will translate well from college to the NFL. With Haskins fitting right in, it’ll help out the Redskins’ defense tremendously. The numbers say that if the offense can stay on the field long enough, this defense will be one of the best in the league, making it much easier to win games. Keep an eye on this team to make a playoff push.
  • Drew Lock: Much like Jones, Lock likely won’t see the field unless the Broncos are performing poorly with Flacco as their starting quarterback. If that’s the case, the Broncos likely won’t be competing for a playoff spot. The defense can keep this team in games, but how well the offense performs, regardless of who the quarterback is, is a big question. If Drew Lock if starting, this team likely won’t be competing in the playoffs.

Final Rankings

  1. Dwayne Haskins – Washington Redskins
  2. Kyler Murray – Arizona Cardinals
  3. Drew Lock – Denver Broncos
  4. Daniel Jones – New York Giants

Do I actually believe any of these rookies will be the first rookie quarterback to lead their team to a Super Bowl? No. If one of them is going to do it, I believe it will be Haskins leading the Washington Redskins.

This defense was legit before Alex Smith went down last season. They were leading the NFC East, but then it all fell apart because of quarterback problems. Haskins would give them stability at quarterback once again, helping this defense regain their form. I believe the Redskins could be a very competitive team with Haskins leading the way.
