1. Cleveland Browns: Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

Original Pick: Baker Mayfield

The Browns seem to have found the face of their franchise with the first overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. Mayfield was a bit of a controversial first overall pick when he was selected, but has proven to be worthy of the selection in the 14 games that he played his rookie year. Despite only playing 14 games and starting just 13 at QB for the Browns, Baker set the single-season rookie touchdown record with 27.

Mayfield has shown the leadership skills of a seasoned veteran and is just what the Browns have been searching for for years. Something that they haven’t had since returning to the NFL in 1999.

He can extend plays with his feet, make every throw with zip or touch, and should only improve mentally with more and more experience. In hindsight, Baker maybe should have started the season as the Brown’s starting QB, maybe even giving them a chance to make the playoffs one year after going 0-16.

But I doubt many people in Cleveland would change anything about what has led the Browns to where they are at right now. This is the most hope and promise felt surrounding the organization in a long, long time. There is no way that Browns fans or front office execs would make any other pick looking back, and are hoping that Baker Mayfield can take the Browns all the way to the promised land.
