23: New England Patriots; Phillip Lindsay, RB, Colorado

Original Pick: Isaiah Wynn

The Patriots wish they could lock up Sony Michel with this pick in the re-draft after stealing him in the second round originally, but he’s gone. So they go with another super effective runner from a season ago in Phillip Lindsay.

Lindsay went from going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft to making the Pro Bowl as a rookie with the Broncos last season. Lindsay ran for over 1,000 yards and scored 10 total touchdowns while sharing a bit of the load with third-round pick Royce Freeman.

Lindsay would share work with the plethora of other running backs in New England but would take on the Sony Michel role of lead between-the-tackles runner. Believe it or not, the Patriots ranked third in the entire NFL last season in rushing attempts. They developed into a run-first offense and Lindsay could likely be nearly as effective as Michel was.

The original pick, Isaiah Wynn, was unable to play at all in 2018 due to a preseason Achilles tear, and could still be a vital piece for New England going forward. But missing Michel, the Patriots need that workhorse runner. Lindsay is the target and jumps all the way up to the first round.

24. Carolina Panthers: Donte Jackson, CB, LSU

Original Pick: D.J. Moore

The Panthers go with their second-round pick, Donte Jackson at 24 in this re-draft. Jackson is incredibly fast, evidenced by his 4.32 40 time at the combine. He also has very impressive ball skills, grabbing four interceptions his rookie season.

Jackson was also able to help the Panthers greatly in the run game, ranking second on the team with 63 solo tackles as a cornerback. Jackson started all 16 games for Carolina and will be instrumental in trying to stop some of the outstanding wide receivers in the NFC South for years to come.

D.J. Moore played well in Carolina his rookie season, but Jackson is a little more valuable for the Panthers at this point.
