RB Jay Ajayi

With Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt and Duke Johnson on the roster, you would not think that running back would be much of a need for the Cleveland Browns. However, Hunt is suspended for the first eight games of the season and Johnson has made it clear that he would like to be traded.

Chubb is an absolute stud who can handle a full load of carries, but it would be nice if the Browns could find a back who can spell him a bit early in the season. It appears that Johnson will likely stick around, so he should help, but Johnson is more of a pass-catching back. In particular, the Browns should be looking for someone to take some of the tough inside carries for Chubb.

Jay Ajayi suffered a torn ACL last season and we do not know if he will be ready for the start of the season. However, considering the injury happened early in the 2018 season, it is at least possible that Ajayi could be ready.

The Browns should bring Ajayi in for a visit so they can see how his rehab is going. If he is progressing nicely and is willing to sign a one-year deal, I would love to see Cleveland take a shot on him. Ajayi’s injury history is scary, but when he is healthy, he can certainly make an impact on the ground.

If he could be healthy enough to handle a few carries and be a threat on the ground, Ajayi could be an important addition for the Cleveland Browns. If nothing else, he could help keep Chubb fresh for the stretch run. If the Browns are going to make a deep playoff run, they are going to want the best out of Chubb when it matters the most.
