Jacksonville Jaguars 2017 re-draft: Fixing the Fournette mistake
Round 4
Who it was: Dede Westbrook (110)
Who it should have been: Eddie Jackson (112)
Out of everybody in the Jacksonville Jaguars 2017 draft class, Dede Westbrook seems to be the only one that has met his value. Westbrook has been a reliable option amongst a pretty unreliable group of receivers over the last two seasons and has a chance to really break out for Nick Foles and company in 2019.
That being said, there is a name that came just two picks later that is impossible to ignore that probably would have been a better option.
Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson has been the definition of a ball-hawk thus far in his career, as he has quickly become one of the premier playmakers in the entire NFL.
In just two seasons, he has tallied 8 interceptions, recovered 4 fumbles and has taken 5 of those takeaways to the house. To put that into perspective, that’s more touchdowns than future Hall of Famers Earl Thomas (3), Richard Sherman (2) and Patrick Peterson (1) have in their careers.
Jackson was one of the biggest steals of the entire 2017 NFL draft and one player who will keep general managers and scouts up at night, thinking about how they missed on him.
Could you imagine Jackson in the same secondary as Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye?
