Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky received an extremely poor rating in the ‘Madden NFL 20’ video game. Trubisky is far from a perfect player, but this rating is laughably bad.

The Chicago Bears are one of the most talented teams in the entire NFL. Led by an elite defense and creative offense, the Bears are likely to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders in 2019 and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is probably the most important player on the roster.

Trubisky has his warts as a player, but he really grew into his own as a second-year player last season. He has a strong arm, makes strong decisions, has solid accuracy and fantastic mobility and overall playmaking skills. Trubisky is certainly an inconsistent passer, but his overall skill set at the quarterback position is impressive. Why he is getting completely disrespected by the ‘Madden NFL 20’ developers is beyond me.

The ‘Madden’ player ratings were released on Monday. Rating players for a video game is obviously an inexact science, but for the most part, these game developers seem to do a solid job. However, they have missed the mark when it comes to Trubisky.

The Chicago Bears quarterback has been given a 75 overall rating for the game’s launch. Overall, the ratings for the new ‘Madden’ game are lower than in the past. They are clearly trying to separate the absolute best of the best from the rest of the players in the NFL. As a whole, I like this change. However, when comparing Trubisky’s rating to other NFL quarterbacks, there is no way to explain this.

At 75 overall, ‘Madden’ has Trubisky tied with Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Miami Dolphins as the 26th best quarterback in the NFL. He is behind guys like Andy Dalton (80 overall), Marcus Mariota (79), Alex Smith (77), Lamar Jackson (76) and Jameis Winston (76).

I am sorry, but on what planet are these quarterbacks better than Trubisky? I would also argue that he should at least be on the same level as guys like Derek Carr (80), Matthew Stafford (79), Jimmy Garoppolo (78) and Nick Foles (77).

Trubisky’s rating as a 75 overall player stands out as an absolutely terrible choice. In the end, none of this really matter. That being said, he is a much better player than ‘Madden’ is giving him credit for and he will prove that during the 2019 season.
