Battle #3: Interior offensive line

The Rams’s starting offensive line from Super Bowl LII could look vastly different come opening day in 2019.

Starting tackles Andrew Whitworth and Rob Havenstein are back for more, but left guard Rodger Saffold left in free agency (Titans) and John Sullivan retired, leaving at least two spots up for grabs this offseason.

Austin Blythe returns and will either start at right guard (where he was in February) or center (where he was when he initially came to the Rams) but what about left guard and the other position not taken by Blythe?

Joseph Noteboom, drafted as a tackle out of TCU, and Brian Allen are currently penciled in as the left guard and center respectively, but the Rams also drafted Bobby Evans and David Edwards to compete not only at their natural  tackle positions, but at guard.

This battle essentially comes down to a pair of 2018 draft picks (Noteboom, Allen) and a pair of 2019 draft picks (Evans, Edwards).

My guess at this point is that Allen wins the starting center position considering he’s a natural fit there and it would keep Blythe at right guard, then the left guard position will go to Noteboom first and possibly Evans second.

Either Evans or Noteboom could work as a swing tackle as well, which helps the Rams a lot in case anything happens to Whitworth of Havenstein.
