The New England Patriots will be counting on Isaiah Wynn to make an immediate impact with the team.

With the 23rd overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots added Georgia offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn to the mix. Wynn was projected by many in the draft community to be a guard, but the Patriots seemingly added him as an offensive tackle prospect. Entering his second season, the Pats are going to be counting on Wynn to make a major impact.

Wynn would have likely been a major contributor for the Patriots last season, but he tore his Achilles during the preseason, ending his rookie season before it really even started. Trent Brown locked down the left tackle position for New England last season but he signed a massive free-agent contract with the Oakland Raiders this offseason. With Brown gone, Wynn will be counted on in a major way in 2019.

The New England Patriots are absolutely locked in at four out of the five offensive line positions. Marcus Cannon is a former All-Pro at right tackle who is still playing at an extremely high level, while David Andrews is a rock-solid and extremely underrated player at the center position. On top of that, Shaq Mason and Joe Thuney combine to form the best offensive guard duo in the entire NFL.

Left tackle is the only question mark for the Patriots up front and with Brown gone, Wynn will have every opportunity to make the position his.

At 6-foot-3, 313 pounds, Wynn does not have the prototypical size for an NFL offensive tackle. That being said, he has the athleticism and mobility to make up for his size deficiencies on the outside. Wynn is a great pass protector who moves his feet and uses his hands extremely well. He also shows a tremendous ability to anchor.

Wynn is also an impressive run blocker who is particularly strong in gap scheme situations. He gets off of the ball quickly, knows where to put his hands and how to get his hips into position, uses great pad level and finishes with power.

Wynn may not look exactly like most NFL left tackles, but he is an extremely gifted offensive lineman who can get the job done. Simply put, few players on the New England Patriots are as important to their 2019 success than Wynn. Luckily for them, Wynn can come in and immediately get the job done.
