Re-Drafting the 2015 NFL Draft: Where do Winston and Mariota end up?
17. San Francisco 49ers: Arik Armstead, DE, Oregon
Original Pick: Armstead
Arik Armstead has been productive for San Francisco, so with him still available, we keep this pick the same. He has been a consistent player for San Francisco, notching 98 tackles and nine sacks in four years.
I like the pressure he brings on opposing teams with getting to the quarterback and the tackles for loss. In his career, Armstead has gotten 29 hits on the opposing quarterback and also has 13 tackles for a loss. He is a good player who has become an important piece of the 49ers defense.
18. Kansas City Chiefs: Byron Jones, CB, Connecticut
Original Pick: Marcus Peters
Marcus Peters and Ronald Darby are already taken off the board by Chicago and Minnesota earlier but the Chiefs still want to add a cornerback. They get Byron Jones who has still been a productive corner in this league. In four seasons, Jones has recorded 303 tackles and was selected to the Pro Bowl last year. He’s not the player that Marcus Peters was for Kansas City but they still do well in this re-draft.
19. Cleveland Browns: Ali Marpet, OG, Hobart
Original Pick: Cameron Erving
Ali Marpet is an underrated guard for the Tampa Bay Bucs and is better than Cameron Erving, who is now a fringe starter in Kansas City. Ali Marpet was originally taken in the second round and has been the starter for the past four seasons. Marpet would of came in day one and been an improvement for Cleveland. Marpet would bring good protection for a young quarterback like Baker Mayfield.
