Re-Drafting the 2015 NFL Draft: Where do Winston and Mariota end up?
9. New York Giants: Brandon Scherff, OL, Iowa
Original Pick: Ereck Flowers
The Giants cut Ereck Flowers in 2018 and he later signed as a backup with the Jags. Flowers was never the best tackle or even second best at the time he was taken in the 2015 NFL Draft. Brandon Scherff falls to them here and the Giants couldn’t resist on taking him. Scherff is the best offensive lineman in this class.
In four seasons he’s been selected to two Pro Bowls and would help the Giants offensive line woes that have been plaguing this team for the last couple seasons. Scherff is also a nice upgrade over Kevin Zeitler, their current right guard. Saquon Barkley and Eli Manning would be happy here knowing they have a stud to protect upfront.
10. Los Angeles Rams: David Johnson, RB, Northern Iowa
Original Pick: Todd Gurley
Todd Gurley was already picked earlier by the Raiders, so the former third-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals makes sense here for the Rams. David Johnson has been one of the few players in Arizona who has been consistent.
Even though he was injured in 2017, he put up solid numbers in 2016 and 2018 while not having the best offensive line in the league. In 2016, he put up spectacular numbers, rushing for 1,239 yards on 293 attempts, and totaling 16 touchdowns. Losing Gurley hurt, but Johnson is a nice consolation prize.
