Re-Drafting the 2015 NFL Draft: Where do Winston and Mariota end up?
23. Denver Broncos: Dante Fowler, EDGE, Florida
Original Pick:
Fowler falls from the top five all the way down to 23rd and the Broncos weren’t going to pass on him. He’s a great addition to an already stout defense in Denver. Having Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware already on the team at linebacker. Dante Flower could have played an defensive end role with Malik Jackson and Sylvester Williams at tackle. This team would have been better set up for when Peyton Manning retired to find their next starting quarterback.
24. Arizona Cardinals: Donovan Smith, OT, Penn State
Original Pick: Shane Ray
Donovan Smith is a good left tackle who moves up from the early second round. Smith has stayed healthy, playing in every game for the Bucs in the four years as a starter. D.J. Humphries has been injured on and off the last three seasons. Having a more effective player on the line would have helped their running game even more and would have given Carson Palmer better protection.
25. Carolina Panthers: Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
Original Pick: Shaq Thompson
Shaq Thompson wasn’t a bad pick but I like Carolina taking a cornerback in this spot. Trae Waynes fell from 11th overall and he’s just a better player and a bigger need for this team. Waynes would have fit nicely alongside Josh Norman at cornerback taking over Charles Tillman’s spot.
