Washington Redskins: 3 major concerns heading to training camp
By Craig Stofko
2. Safety
Another concern regarding the depth on this team is at the safety position.
I’m a huge fan of both Landon Collins and Montae Nicholson. But, after the starters things get pretty thin.
I like Deshazor Everett but not enough to see him hold down a safety spot for more than a few games and Troy Apke was as unimpressive as any rookie in recent history last year. There is talk that he was injured all year. That might explain why he looked like he had never played football in his life before last year.
If his ineptitude was attributable to health issues hopefully they have been resolved. If the issues run deeper than that I can only hope that the team is eyeing Dominique Rogers Cromartie as depth at the safety position. I thought from the day the Redskins signed him that the plan would be for him to transition to safety the way De’Angelo Hall did several years ago.
But, if that’s the plan they are sure taking their time making any kind of official roster move declaring their intentions.
